KATY

Knowledge At the Tip of Your fingers: Clinical Knowledge for Humanity

The KATY project, launched on 9 February 2020, was funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 program for 8.5 million euros, will last 48 months and involve 20 partners. KATY uses Artificial Intelligence and Bioinformatics in the fight against cancer. It aims to build personalized medicine systems to help doctors make decisions about the best therapy for the patient.

The use of KATY’s AI-based models in cancer treatment will increase the use of targeted and personalized treatments with the aim of responding to a problem encountered daily by doctors: which targeted therapy would be the most suitable for a specific patient? KATY’s artificial intelligence-based personalized medicine system is a state-of-the-art system in the field of new cancer treatments. It is built around two main components: a distributed knowledge graph (DGK) and a set of explainable artificial intelligence (XAIP) based prediction systems. The data organized through the distributed knowledge graph is used by prediction systems to derive the best therapy for the specific patient. KATY will begin testing with data from patients with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), a rare and complex form of kidney cancer.
