GENOTYPING OF FOETAL RH

Why get tested?

The test makes it possible to know the fetal RhD genotype as early as the eleventh week of gestation and this can change the care pathways in prenatal health care, avoiding that mothers with RhD negative receive anti-D blood products unnecessarily.
The test is suitable for all RhD negative pregnant women with a gestational age of at least 11 weeks and RhD positive partners.

What the test detects

The test searches for specific traits of exons 5, 7 and 10 of the circulating free DNA RHD gene by Real Time qPCR, using the Cell3 ™ Direct: Rhesus D Fetal Blood Group Genotyping kit and also includes a control gene to confirm that there is an adequate amount of free circulating DNA (cfDNA) in the sample under analysis.

What variants cause

The detections of specific traits of exons 5, 7 and 10 of the RHD gene of free circulating DNA indicate the positive RH of the foetus.

How testing works

The genetic test consists of carrying out a blood sample and searching for specific traits of exons 5, 7 and 10 of the RHD gene of circulating free DNA.
